What OPFOR provides

Roles

An OPFOR is trained to mimic a common enemy for a military, law enforcement or security force. It gives that force a realistic opponent to practise its skills and techniques against.

OPFOR role players use replica and gas-powered weapons set up only to simulate the noise of firing, so an exercise has the effect of weapons without the safety and security requirements of firearms.

How are role players selected?

Every OPFOR role player has completed a selection event. Successful applicants attend a one- or two-day selection, which lets OPFOR learn about each person's character and commitment before training begins. Because OPFOR invests heavily in training, selection is designed to be challenging and to identify potential issues early.
